Meet Ana
I am a Berkeley School Board Director, a city planner, elected Democratic Party leader, and a mom to two wonderful boys.
In my six years on the Berkeley School Board, I have fought for our children’s safety, worked to safely reopen schools with a strong public health focus, advocated to increase safety on our campuses, and focused on closing the opportunity gaps for our most vulnerable students. I can’t wait to serve as your next Area 1 Trustee for the Alameda County Board of Education!
My accomplishments include:
Drafting and advocating for common sense public health policies for public schools.
Establishing a Berkeley Unified Safety Committee and creating the position of District-Wide Safety Coordinator to keep our schools safe.
Working with school districts in three Bay Area counties to keep students safe to and from school on public transit.
Spearheading the addition of Berkeley Unified’s Puente Program which contributes to Berkeley High School’s #2 statewide ranking on UC admissions performance.
I believe that there’s more work to be done to close the opportunity gap for Black & Brown students and students with disabilities. Growing up as an English-language learner and benefiting from supportive and diverse public schools, I know first-hand how important community and school partnerships are in closing our opportunity gaps. I hope you will join me in fighting for educational excellence for all learners in Alameda County!
